ABOUT THE CAPTAIN
Hi, my name is Max McKinley, and I’m a third generation Floridian and a first generation fishing guide in my family. I moved to Stuart, FL when I was 9 years old from Fort Lauderdale.
I picked up Fishing through some friends almost a decade ago while fishing docks, bridges, and wherever our bikes could take us. Over the next few years, my friends began to get boats so that we could venture out more, mainly targeting snook, trout, redfish, and tarpon.
When I was 15, I met a now good friend, Capt. Marshall Busha. I credit him for teaching me much of what I know today and helping me figure out that guiding is what I ultimately wanted to do with my life. At 17 I got my first boat and really started to hone my skills to prepare so that I was ready for my captain's license. At 20 years old, after years of guiding plenty of friends and family to many “First’s” and “Biggest’s” for practice, I received my captain's license and started guiding on the East and West Coasts of Central and South Florida.
The past year has been a roller coaster, continually growing and getting busier day after day, week after week. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t want to do anything else for the rest of my life than be a Captain. I’ve found my place in the world, and it’s nothing but growth from here on out.

Had a great trip with Captain Max today. Early morning tarpon catch with some big big snook later in the morning. Max did a great job dealing with our relative inexperience, stayed positive, and got us into the fish. Will book again without hesitation.
